Everyone Wants A Quick Fix

A special event is approaching and I have everything. I have a beautiful dress, the most amazing shoes, the perfect earings, and clutch to match. The only thing missing was my confidence in it all. With my mom in town I put it all on to get her opinion and I crashed and burned. Not with her opinion but I was second guessing everything. Was the dress okay? Maybe I needed to buy new shoes? But most of all in 100% honesty.. I felt fat. Every woman gets that feeling when things should feel great and something is just missing.

Then I found it! Being from Florida, I am used to being tan. I love the beach and when it's a cloudy day, I would just pop into a spray tan and instantly feel better. I always tried to explain this to people but I never knew how true it was until today.

Last night I got my spray tan. So today, I put my big girl pants on put the whole outfit on again. TADA!! I literally couldn't believe the pictures. I had not lost weight, I had not been dieting (I had Thai & Mexican the past 2 nights with my mom.. eek!) It was 100% the spray tan! Today is on the left and the picture on the right is on Wednesday.

So, all in all... having a tan can literally make you look and feel your best! Check out the pictures below and I've also included my favorite self tanning products :) - However, for the real deal.. always call your local tanning salon for the best results!

Burlap & Buckets

I've had many ask about the burlap baskets I made today.... So here is how I did it :)

1. Silver buckets found at Home Depot:

2. Burlap premade sheets found at Walmart 

3. Choose your design on the computer and print it onto the burlap sheets. Cut to size and use fabric glue to secure into place :)

Staying Glam Through the Sweat Season

With football season around the corner it means more outdoor fun in the sun. I've always loved football festivities but hated the long days, sitting in the stands sweating, and feeling like my make up was running down my face... (I think we've all been there before). Well, through my years cheering for the NFL, I've picked up a few tricks to keep your hair & makeup in tacked and sweat free :) 

1. Dry Shampoo

From tailgating to the game and then the after game dinner, your Saturday/Sunday is easily an 8-10hr all day affair. With long days, and especially being in the sun, my hair can quickly turn into a flat oily mess (which is just so not cute)! To avoid this, Dry Shampoo (pssssst! is my FAVORITE) is an absolute must to throw into your bag. A quick trip into the car or restroom to spray and spruce up your hair keeps it fresh, full & oil free all day long ;)


2. Face Primer
Before putting on your foundation/powder I highly suggest a good matte gel. Even though it's meant especially for oilier skin types, I think it suits perfectly for all skin types. It creates a super smooth, kinda powdery like (covering up most of those nasty pores!) surface on the skin, with a semi matte finish. Along with creating the perfect surface to put on your make up, It keeps your makeup put in place in all types of weather. 


3. Antiperspirant

While cheering for the NFL, I quickly found out that in 90 degree weather sweat was not a friend to my makeup. Combined with the matte gel, antiperspirant was a great way to reduce sweating. With a clean face, you simply apply a small amount of antiperspirant to your hair line. This helps keep sweat from beading down your face. This trick combined with a matte gel means your make up is almost guaranteed to stay in place regardless of the heat :)

The Famous Sock Bun

Bad hair day? Need a few extra zzz's leaving no time to wash your hair? 

Next time just throw it up in a bun.  I swear not only is it super easy to do..but it looks fab too! After posting this pic on instagram ( _nikkijo_ ) I soon realized just how many people didn't know this trick of beauty. I will now inform you of my little secret :)
