DIY ReStore

Have you ever been to you local Restore store? Habitat for Humanity ReStores are nonprofit home improvement stores and donation centers that sell new and gently used furniture, home accessories, building materials, and appliances to the public at a fraction of the retail price.  Habitat for Humanity ReStores are proudly owned and operated by local Habitat for Humanity affiliates, and proceeds are used to build homes, community, and hope locally and around the world. ( http://www.habitat.org/env/restores.aspx )

This weekend I popped into my local store to check out their options for headboards. I found this great one for $50!

I knew with a little love, it would be the perfect addition to the guest bedroom. I went straight to the local craft store and snagged 3 bottles of flat white paint and 2yds of a light burlap material.

After removing the fabric section of the headboard, I painted the entire frame white. While waiting for it to dry, I was able to reupholster the headboard using my staple gun and new fabric. After about a combined about 2 hours it was complete. Check out the new look!

Sweet Treats

Sweet Pretzels is one of my favorite treats to make! With Easter this weekend, why not make something to go in those candy dishes around the house. These treats are super easy to make. If you have kids, making these treats can keep them busy.... at least for a little while.

What you need:
1 bag of mini square pretzels
1-2 bags of hugs or white Hershey Kisses (This varies on the season & project)
Seasoned colored M&M's
1 cookie tray/baking sheet

Directions:
Turn the microwave on to 300. Place all of your pretzels on the cookie sheet. Unwrap all of the kisses and place one kiss on each pretzel. Place in the oven until the tips of the kisses start to collapse. Once the tops of the kisses collapse, remove the cookie sheet out of the oven. Place the center of the flower first on each pretzel so the kiss squishes down. Then, go back and place the petals around the center with the remaining M&M's. Let them cool and serve.

You can reuse this recipe for any season of the year! This is what really makes them my favorite treat to keep around  throughout the year.

Stitch Fix

Stitch Fix is the newest trend in shopping. With the offer of a personal stylist and clothes delivered right to your door, why not try it?
I signed up right away and couldn't wait for my first shipment. It finally arrived on March 3rd. I couldn't wait to open and see the clothes.
To say I was a little disappointed was an understatement. I tried on all 5 articles and not only were they all too big for me, but the prices weren't actually budget friendly either.
First item was a chevron dress size small. This dress was definitely too big for me! It was frumpy, too long and at $88 a bit to expensive for my taste.
Next a pair of jeans. They actually fit. However, the material was stretch. So as they were definitely comfortable, I knew after wearing them for any length of time They would be saggy. The price tag for these... $98. 😱
Next the shirts. Honestly they were all a little big. However, the only one that I would have considered buying was the floral one. These all ranged from $34-$54. In the end, I decided to return all items.
I updated my account on StitchFix.com and decided I'd wait another month and give it one more shot. Hopefully it will be a better experience.

Check back for my update! In the meantime, if you want to try it out, click below: https://www.stitchfix.com/client/referrals#

Those Sheets Have More Than One Purpose

This time of year everything I touch seems to have some type of static electricity. This includes my hair! I absolutely hate walking out the door and feeling like my hair is nothing but clingy and static-y alll daaayyyy loonnggg...

Well I'm here to let you in on a little secret... those dryer sheets remove more than just static on your clothes...

There I said it and it's 100% TRUE! if you wake up it he morning and your hair is nothing but a ball of static, take a dryer sheet and rub it on your hair, through your pony tail, everything. BOOM! the static is gone!

Oh, and if you want something special just for your hair.. Kerastase now makes Dryer sheets for that purpose :)
